Canberra’s climate creates different indoor environmental challenges throughout the year.
Cold winters and regular frosts lead residents to keep homes closed and heated for extended periods. Warm indoor air meeting cold windows, walls and other surfaces can create condensation, and moisture may then collect around window frames, inside cupboards, behind furniture or within poorly ventilated rooms.

What Can Indoor Air Testing Identify?
Air sampling can provide information about airborne fungal particles and conditions within different areas of a building. Indoor samples may be compared with outdoor conditions and samples collected from other rooms, helping identify unusual patterns or areas needing further investigation.
Surface sampling may also be appropriate where visible or suspected contamination is present. Laboratory findings are considered alongside moisture readings, the property’s history and evidence gathered during the inspection.
Testing can’t diagnose a medical condition. It can provide information about the indoor environment and help determine whether mould, moisture or other contamination needs attention.
Condensation and Mould in Canberra Homes
Condensation is a common concern during Canberra’s colder months.
Activities such as showering, cooking, drying clothes indoors and using unflued gas heaters can add moisture to the air. If this moisture can’t escape, it may settle on cold surfaces.
Common warning signs include:

Once remediation has been completed, we can undertake independent Post Remediation Verification.
The assessment may include a visual inspection, moisture checks, review of remediated areas and appropriate environmental sampling. Its purpose is to determine whether the agreed Scope of Works has been completed and whether the established verification criteria have been satisfied.
Independent verification provides a documented assessment that is separate from the contractor who completed the remediation.
